Joyce Ann (Lynch) VanDeWeert of Harford Mills, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the age of 89 with her family by her side, following a brief illness.

Born June 11, 1936 in Middletown, NY. She was the daughter of Mary Budd and Warren Lynch. She was married to Garret VanDeWeert for 70 years. Joyce was the Senior Center Manager at Creamery Hills Senior Center in Harford for 30 years. She was monumental in getting Senior Housing established in Harford. She was the Harford Town Clerk for more than 20 years. She was also a very active member of St. Stephen’s Church in Marathon.

Joyce is survived, by sons Garret John (Patti) of Harford, Joe of Marathon, and daughters, Mary (John) Marchica of Erieville, and Ella (Darrell) Emmick of Harford Mills; grandchildren, Christopher VanDeWeert, Nick Emmick (Emily) and their children Harper and Hannah, Casey (Mary) VanDeWeert and their children Bradley, Evelynne, and Zachary, Joshua (Angela) VanDeWeert and their children Adam, Brensyn, and Cayden, Francesca VanDeWeert and her daughter Savannah, Samantha VanDeWeert and her daughter Nova, and Issac (Jenn) VanDeWeert, and Emma Marchica. Also surviving, are Joyce’s sisters, Beverly (Thomas) Findura of Herkimer and Judith (Samuel) Jess of Ilion, NY, as well as brother-in-law, Ronald VanDeWeert of Marathon and sister-in-law, Elaine Fergus of Ithaca, brother-in-law, Gordie Morgan (Carol Anne’s husband) of Candor, and sister-in-law Henrietta VanDeWeert (John’s wife) of Dryden, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Mary, her husband, Garret, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard (wife Patricia) of Towanda, Pa, Henry (wife Helen) of King George, Va, John (Dryden, NY), and sister Carol Anne (Dryden, NY).

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Stephen’s Church, Marathon, NY 13803.

Calling hours will begin at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Church in Marathon on Saturday, January 17, 2026, prior to the funeral mass which will begin at 12:00 p.m. A light meal will follow at the Marathon American Legion. A private burial will be held at the Berkshire Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
