Joyce Marie Veasley

Joyce Marie Veasley (Duarte), 85, of Cotuit, passed away on August 23, 2025. She was born in New Bedford on April 5, 1940 to Olga and John Duarte. She was raised in Hyannis by her mother Olga and beloved stepfather Samuel Monteiro. While living in Hyannis she became a state employee, social worker for the Department of Transitional Assistance until her retirement.

Joyce married her loving husband James Veasley in 1990 and the couple resided in Cotuit until Joyce's passing.

Joyce is survived by her beloved husband James Veasley of Cotuit, her children, Bryant Murphy, Lisa Reed, Kevin Murphy, the late Kim James, and Vernesha Simpson. Joyce also leaves her siblings, Bonnie, Deedee, and Luverne, her 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will take place on September 20, 2025 from 1-3 PM in the Chapman Funeral & Cremations, John-Lawrence Chapel, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills, MA.
