My memory of Joyce was always her welcoming smile as she would come to attend the celebration of the Thursday Mass at Christ the King Passionist Retreat center.
She was always very positive and affirming. She will be missed by all of us. I celebrated the Mass in memory of her and for the family.
Sincerely in Christ,

Joyce was my dear friend and confidant. We met at Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center. She used to come to events and knit! She seemed to me rather stern in those days, but as I got to know her I realized that she was not stern, but strong. We went to Mercy Center in Auburn for group oasis days. She introduced me to Christian Meditation and we talked about meditating a lot!
She taught to the end and one of her jobs was teaching young men who were working off community service obligations and attending classes to obtain a GED. Joyce was so dedicated to those intransigent young guys. She loved them so much and some were able to trust and love her back. She talked me into teaching parttime with her. But, while I had the heart for these young men, I didn´t have the strength that she did to persevere. At every mass she prayed for them-"our children".
I miss her every day, especially those Mondays that we shared in meditation or prayer group. She was such a faithful woman that I know she is sitting at Jesus´ feet, smiling her wonderful smile, and maybe knitting him a sweater!
God bless you, my dear friend.
