Jul 4, 1935 - Jan 22, 2026
Joyce Yarbrough, most recently residing at Ciel Senior Living in Fayetteville, AR, passed away at the age of 90. Born July 4, 1935, at Glencoe community, north of Pindall in Searcy County, Arkansas to Blaine Young and Irene Nichols Young.
Joyce grew up in Pindall surrounded by family and deeply involved in family business and politics. In school, Joyce excelled academically, ultimately graduating as an honor graduate from Valley Springs in 1954. Before completing high school, Joyce married the love of her life, L.D. Yarbrough, on January 4, 1952. Joyce and L.D. had been married for 57 years at the time he passed.
Joyce spent the bulk of her working career at two places of employment. First at Arkansas Acceptance Corporation (AAC), where she became an integral part of the Harrison financial community and formed many life-long friendships. Second, at Chambers Medical Clinic as the practice manager for doctors Carlton and Sue Chambers where she was a deeply valued asset making sure the doctors could focus on medicine without the worry, stress or distraction of financial efficiencies.
During retirement, Joyce and L.D. spent time on many driving trips, mostly to the west or north-west, along with making many trips to Razorback sporting events and attending lots of activities their grandchildren were a part of.
When medical necessity dictated, Joyce and L.D. relocated to Fayetteville, where their son Greg and his wife Letecia lived along with their children Rachel and Blaine. Joyce and Letecia took exceptional care of L.D. until his passing.
After L.D.'s death, Joyce returned to their home in Harrison, along with her beloved dog Coco. She formed friendships and depended on the tight-knit group surrounding her on Windsor Drive, including Norm Friar, Betty and Cynthia Moore, and Vince and Eve Dooley.
She spent many years as a volunteer at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. Her volunteer activities gave her a new opportunity to form friendships while being involved in community.
Joyce loved and was proud of her family, but it was evident to anyone who took note that the highest pedestal in her heart was occupied by her grandchildren. She often spoke with deep fondness about their outings together, especially the trips to Silver Dollar City.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, L.D, Yarbrough, her brother Don Young, and her parents Blaine and Irene Young.
She is survived by her son Greg and daughter-in-law Letecia, her grandchildren Rachel Yarbrough and Blaine Yarbrough and his wife Kat all of Fayetteville. Also, her sister Billie J. Norton of Hernando, FL, her nephews Mike (Kat) Holder of Diamond City, AR, Frank Holder of Greensboro, NC, Jim (Mary) Birdsong of Puerto Rico, Robert (Carol) Murray of Valley Springs, AR, her nieces Carla J Murray of Sun Valley, ID and Donna Young of Harrison, AR; and a host of extended relatives.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM both on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Blaine Yarbrough, Robert Murray, Tim Crunkleton, Mike Holder, Eric Holder, and Kevan Holder.
Honorary Pallbearers are Norm Friar, Bill Peerce, Jim Birdsong, and Carlton and Sue Chambers.
