Joyce Young

A large piece of our hearts gracefully passed through the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Patricia Joyce Young, age 86 of Bridgeport, IL, passed away with loved ones by her side. She was born on February 14, 1939 in Vincennes, IN. She was born the only daughter of Roby and Anna Katherine (Seitzinger) Pinkstaff.

On March 24, 1957, Joyce married Herb Young at the First Christian Church in Bridgeport. For 68 years, they worked to build a lifetime of love, family, God, and hard work.

Joyce was a member of New Hope Christian Church where she enjoyed numerous activities and groups. She attended the Women's Bible Study group, and she and Herb enjoyed going out to eat with the Senior Saints. Above all else, Joyce loved her family. She attended as many school and sporting events as she could to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other family events that she enjoyed included going to Kentucky Lake and boating, cooking Sunday dinners, and holiday get-togethers. She took great pride in decorating for Christmas. She went all out.

For many years, she owned and operated Joyce's Beauty Manor in Bridgeport. She loved chatting up her clients and listening to their stories. Nothing got past Joyce. She worked hard and always wanted to stay busy even as she got older.

Those blessed to be a part of Joyce's love and devotion include: one daughter- Joni Legg and husband Tracey of Lawrenceville, IL; four grandchildren- Jason Young and wife Melinda of Bridgeport, IL, Josh Young and wife McKenzie of Vincennes, IN, Courtney Brian and husband Jason of Bloomington, IL, and Casey Tapp and husband Matt of New Braunfels, TX; nine great-grandchildren- Kamryn and Baron Young, Charlotte Young, Tenley, Hadley, Presley, and Bowen Brian, and Reagan, Kennedy, and Colton Tapp; one brother- Fred Pinkstaff of Flat Rock, IL; and one nephew and his family- Colonel Scott Pinkstaff, wife Amanda, and their three daughters of Carlyle, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents- Roby and Anna Katherine Pinkstaff, one son- Gary Wayne Young, and one brother- Richard Pinkstaff.

Services for Joyce are scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, at the New Hope Christian Church of Bridgeport. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow immediately at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Cunningham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
