I made my first connection with Evette while we were both working at Old Stone Bank in Providence, RI. We quickly became friends and always enjoyed her upbeat and positive personality. Throughout my life I always thought of her and recounted our memories of her. I am saddened to hear of her passing.

I was trying to remember when and where J. Evette and I first met in RI; I cannot. She was simply a part of ALL of my RI experiences and memories. I can hear her call my name as I write this, "you know, Lisa-Renée..." followed by her opining on any of the myriad topics we might be discussing. She was loved, adored and respected in RI and we are mending broken hearts.
I remember dragging her to sports bars with me so I could watch football. I was a fan; she wasn't but knew I needed a wingwoman. We always had a blast.
I also recall asking her why she learned to drive later than the rest of us. It was then I fully realized how courageous and brilliant my friend was to leave home at 15 and go hundreds of miles from all she knew and loved to attend college. Your RI Brunch crew love you and will miss you forever. We were planning a reunion...
