Juan Lopez "Jay" Chacon Jr.

Juan "Jay" Lopez Chacon Jr., born on November 6, 1984, at Alexian Brothers Hospital, passed away on March 5, 2026, at Emanuel Medical Center at the age of 41. Jay was known for his vibrant personality and deep love for his family.

Jay grew up in California and attended both Ceres High School and Argus High. He found joy in his work as a restaurant manager, a position he held until the time of his passing. He previously worked in childcare and event planning.

On April 7, 2012, Jay married the love of his life, Allen John Herrera II, at the Turlock Fair Grounds Hall. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter while raising their daughters, Angelique and Evangelina.

Jay had many hobbies and passions. He enjoyed bingo, dancing, and interior designing, and he had a unique ability to transform spaces into warm and welcoming environments, making every gathering memorable. In recent years, he especially loved going to casinos and playing bingo in his spare time, activities he could still enjoy despite his health conditions. No matter where they went, Jay and his family always had a blast together.

Jay also loved exploring new places and trying different restaurants. Family and friends knew that he had a special talent for finding the best "hole-in-the-wall" spots. His travels and food adventures took him across California, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and Texas. Among his favorite places were Renato's Pizza in San Jose, California, where he loved the shrimp pizza and chorizo pizza; King Eggroll for their shrimp balls; Bag of Burgers; Mark's Hot Dogs; and Ella Em's Soul Food in Las Vegas, where the fried catfish with mac and cheese was his favorite.

He is survived by his husband, Allen Herrera II; daughters, Angelique Chacon and Evangelina Chacon; mother, Amelia J. Chacon; father, Juan L. Chacon Sr.; and siblings, Lisa Serrano, Charles Serrano, Miguel A. Chacon, and Alejandro A. Chacon. Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Angela and Augustine Delagrande.

Services to honor Jay's life will be held on March 20, 2026, at Turlock Funeral Home, with a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
