Juan C. Pérez passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the age of 75.

Born in 1950 in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, Juan was one of ten children of Rosalia Cruz and Eladio Pérez. The family moved to Philadelphia when Juan was in his early teens and he went on to graduate from Edison High School and also attended Community College of Philadelphia. Juan loved philosophical and theological conversations and often asked unanswerable questions to provoke people to think. He was very generous and was known to take both friends and strangers out to lunch for food and conversation. Juan loved oldies music and choritos, fast cars, endless cups of coffee and meals at Red Lobster. He especially enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren.

Juan was the beloved husband to the late Genevieve Serrano Pérez before her passing in 1979. He is survived by his loving children Juan Pérez (Amy) and Genevieve Loose (Larry), as well as grandchildren Juan (Mara), Elianna, Gabriella, Jasmine and Jacinda. He is additionally survived by stepson Juan Rodriguez and his mother Hilda Fournier, son Christopher Pérez and many nieces and nephews.

Juan spoke almost daily with his siblings and is survived by Luz, Benjamin, Rosalia and Eladio. He was preceded in death by siblings Hector, Norma, William, Santos and Josue.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Juan's family on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Geitner-Givnish Funeral Home, 6230 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. His interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Philadelphia.

In lieu of sending flowers, contributions in honor of Juan C. Pérez may be made to Esperanza Health Center (esperanzahealth.com), where Juan was lovingly cared for over many years.
