Juan S. Ruiz

On December 22, 2023, God called Mr. Juan S. Ruiz back home to be with him at the age of 84 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Laredo, Texas on August 19, 1939, the son of the late Antonio Ruiz Sr. and Ernestina Leza de Ruiz. He touched so many lives in many different ways, as a husband, father, grandfather, a relative and friend. His integrity, faith, unwavering concern for others, love of sports, dedication to work and always doing the right thing is an example for all. He modeled the importance of family, love and togetherness to his wife and daughters. His example will live on in his honor.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Socorro Bernal, Santa Alvarado, Margarita Rubio, and Antonio Ruiz.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved spouse of 59 years of marriage: Irma Leal Ruiz; daughters: Irma Laura (Adrian, III) Gonzalez, Sylvia A. Ruiz, Veronica Hilda (Stephen J.) Garza, and Sonia E. (Greg) Tovar; grandchildren: Greg Tovar Jr., Arianna E. Gonzalez, Mia I. Tovar, Sophia M. Garza, Adrian Gonzalez IV, and Gerardo Gonzalez; sister: Ana Maria Montalvo, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be offered at 7 pm.

Funeral service will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The time for the mass is currently pending.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
