Juana de Perez Obituary
Juana Loza de Perez passed away peacefully at home on Thanksgiving Thursday evening November 27, 2025. During the past several years she suffered from dementia and declining health. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was born June 24, 1940 in the town of Cañadas de Obregón, Jalisco Mexico. Juana married Jose G. Perez on October 8, 1955 at Nuestra Señora de La Luz Catholic Church in Cañadas de Obregón, Jalisco Mexico.
In the fall of 1959 she moved to Newark, California to be with Jose. Juana was a parishioner of Saint Edward Catholic Church in Newark, California since 1959.
Juana enjoyed hosting parties for family and friends at her home. Her annual Christmas Eve celebration with home made tamales has been a tradition for over 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and embroidery. Horses and old western movies reminded her of her childhood.
She was an amazing home cook with a delicious rich mole sauce full of many spices. Her carne en chile was also a favorite and often requested for birthday celebrations.
Juana is survived by her loving husband, Jose G. Perez; her children Maria Ulloa, Marta McDermott, Raul Perez, Alicia Brenes, Javier Perez; her twenty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children Juan Perez, Elia Castaneda, David Perez; her parents and all of her brothers and sisters.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 9th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary starting at 6:30 PM at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd, Fremont, CA. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 10th, 10:00 AM at Saint Edward Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave, Newark, CA. A burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA.
