Juana Florian Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McHoul Family Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Juana Florian, affectionately known as 'Nana' to her loved ones, passed away on January 24, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, creativity, and an indomitable spirit. Born on May 21, 1951, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Juana lived a life that was adventurous, spirited, and generous in every sense of the word. In the words of Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," and Juana truly embodied this spirit of adventure.

Juana's journey led her from the sunny shores of the Dominican Republic to the bustling streets of Boston, Massachusetts, where she made her home. It was here that Juana channeled her creative energy into building a successful career as a chef, bringing joy to people through her love of food. Her generous nature was evident in her work, as she served each meal with a side of warmth and a dash of love. Notably, Juana's spirited nature was recognized in her native Dominican Republic, where she was honored as the first female broadcaster on Radio Azúa. She was a trailblazer, a woman of strength, and a beacon of inspiration to many.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Juana was a devoted mother and family member. She is survived by her loving children, Raquel Martínez and Justo Manuel, and her cherished family member, Aramis Manuel. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio Ortiz and Maria Florian. Family mattered most to Juana; she was the embodiment of the saying, "Family is not an important thing. It's everything." Her adventurous spirit, creative mind, and generous heart will be remembered with love and gratitude by all whose lives she touched.

To honor Juana's memory, Each shared memory of a vibrant woman that was Juana 'Nana' Florian. Let's remember her not just for her accomplishments, but for her love, her spirit, and the joy she brought into our live. Una mujer fuerte en todos los aspectos de su vida diaria, feliz y colorida desde las puntas de las pies a la cabeza siempre con una sonrisa bailando y nunca se le olvidaba su cerveza!
