Juana Ortega Sánchez, de 87 años, de Brownwood, falleció el miércoles 10 de enero de 2026. Se llevará a cabo un servicio conmemorativo a las 2:00 p. m. del lunes 15 de enero de 2026 en la capilla de la Funeraria Heartland.
Juana nació el 20 de octubre de 1938 en Ojinaga, Chihuahua, hija de José La Luz Ortega y María Luisa Sánchez. Asistió a la escuela en México antes de comenzar a trabajar con su familia. Los tiempos eran difíciles durante su infancia en México, pero trabajó para ayudar a su familia y a criar a sus hermanos menores. Juana era una mujer de carácter fuerte, cuyo amor por su fe, su familia y sus amigos era profundo. Juana vivió en California por un tiempo antes de mudarse a Brownwood y le encantaba viajar. A los 50 años, entregó su vida a Cristo y comenzó a servir al Señor. Le encantaba cantar música cristiana y grabó varios CD de música cristiana que compartía con alegría. Juana vivió una buena vida, compartiendo el amor de Jesús, disfrutando de la compañía de su familia y de la comunidad de su iglesia, y siempre dispuesta a cantar.
A Juana le sobreviven su hermana, Reyes Márquez de Brownwood, y numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas, primos y amigos.
A Juana le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, José y María Ortega; una hermana, Nicolasa Flores; y un hermano, Carlos Ortega.

Juana Ortega Sanchez, 87, of Brownwood, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2026. A Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 15, 2026 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Javier Ortega officiating.
Juana was born October 20, 1938 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua to Jose La Luz Ortega and Maria Luisa Sanchez. She attended school in Mexico before going to work with her family. Times were hard growing up in Mexico but she worked to help the family and helped raise the younger siblings. Juana was a very strong-willed woman whose love ran deep for her faith, her family and her friends. Juana lived in California for a time before moving to Brownwood and loved to travel. When she was 50 years old, she gave her life to Christ and began serving the Lord. She loved to sing Christian music and recorded several Christian music CDs that she was happy to share. Juana lived a good life sharing the love of Jesus, enjoying fellowship with her family and church family and always ready to sing.
Juana is survived by her sister, Reyes Marquez of Brownwood and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Juana was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Ortega; a sister, Nicolasa Flores; and a brother, Carlos Ortega.
