Juanita E. Brookshire, born on June 11, 1941, in Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on December 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. She lived a life filled with love, devotion, and dedication to her community and family.
Juanita was a beloved teacher for thirty years with the Lumpkin County School System, where she inspired countless students with her passion for education and learning. Her commitment to nurturing young minds showcased her dedication and love for teaching, leaving an indelible mark on her students and colleagues alike.
Throughout her life, Juanita achieved many milestones that she held dear. She earned a degree in Education, which laid the foundation for her rewarding career as a teacher. Above all her professional accomplishments, one of her proudest was her marriage of to Cecil Clayton Brookshire. Together, they built a loving family and shared many cherished moments over their sixty one years.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Cecil Clayton Brookshire; her daughters, Andrea Smith and Amy Peck; her sons-in-law, Brent Smith and Jerry Peck; as well as her grandchildren, Keaton Smith, Jacelyn Smith, Luke Peck, and Carson Peck. Each of them will remember her warmth, kindness, and thoughtful spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Melvin Anderson and Nell Adams Anderson, both of whom instilled in her the values that guided her through life.
Visitation for Juanita E. Brookshire will take place on December 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:45 PM at W. R. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, located at 260 Main Street, Clermont, GA. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in Wahoo Baptist Church Cemetery.
Juanita leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and the community she served so faithfully. W. R. Strickland & Sons, Clermont, GA.
