Juanita Rasberry Petty, longtime resident of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Okeena Health and Rehabilitation of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Sunday, September 11, 1938, in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late E. F. "Buck" Crawford and the late Mary Knight Crawford Ferguson.
She was a loving mother who cherished the times spent with her family, especially her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout her life, she was known for her dedication, kindness, and care for others. She enjoyed quilting and could often be found watching the hummingbirds that visited her yard. Her kind and gentle spirit, sweet smile, and infectious laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.
Juanita was also a former Girl Scout leader and served for many years as Cookie Drive Chairman. During that time, it was said that if you passed by her home, you could see boxes of cookies filling her carport with just enough room for a path through them.
Juanita was a devoted member of Newbern First Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as Nursery Director for many years and was deeply committed to the children and youth of the church.
Graveside services for Mrs. Petty will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Mr. David Adcock. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Andrea Rasberry Russell of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Ava Kwasigroh Pope (Russell) of Newbern, Tennessee and Leigh Ann Petty Brandeberry (Rick) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one brother, Steve Crawford (Donece)of Newbern, Tennessee; and she was "Grandmother" to her six grandchildren, Eddie Russell (Robyn), Laura Beth Russell Bishop (Ben), William Thomas Kwasigroh (Chelsey), Ana Clarie Pope McNutt (Dylan), Erika Ann Brandeberry Little (Preston) and Richard Grant Brandeberry and three great-grandchildren, Spencer Burns Russell, Oliver R. Bishop and Raylyn Lee McNutt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, William T. "Billy" Rasberry and Rual Petty and one brother, Charles Lynn Crawford.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be directed to the Naomi Group at Newbern First Baptist Church, 114 West Main Street, Newbern, Tennessee 38059.

My condolences to the Family. My husband and I were friends with Juanita and Billy when he passed away, and have kept in touch with her off and on over the years. I lost my husband in 2022 and moved back to the area. I Had not heard from her in a few years and have been wondering lately about her and thinking of trying to get in touch with her if I could find a way. So sorry to see this. She was a wonderful person and I know will be missed.
