With a heavy heart, the family of Juanita E. Worthing announces her passing. After 93 plus years and a life well lived, she passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, surrounded by love, with her daughters at her side.
Born Juanita E. Miller on October 25, 1930, during the Great Depression, to Harry and Alice Miller, she was the youngest of eight children. She was the only one of her siblings to graduate high school.
Juanita loved music and she loved to dance. She was proud to tell stories of how her and her sisters and brothers would attend dances on Saturday nights. She loved to reminisce about the old days and really enjoyed sharing her experiences.
After high school she married Earl Peavey of Montville. Together they had two daughters, Donna and Diane.
Juanita knew the meaning of hard worker and held many jobs throughout her lifetime, mostly within the food and customer service profession. Many of her years she worked more than one job. Selling Avon, cleaning houses and working in local factories. She also owned and co-owned two take-out businesses, one with her sister Maxine. Feeding people was her passion and she served many a secret recipe to her customers.
In 1997 Juanita married George Worthing of Liberty. The love of her life, they shared 23 wonderful years together before his passing in 2019.
She loved canning and preserving food, especially green beans. She also loved to bake, pies were her specialty and she was known far and wide for her crust.
Juanita lived life on her terms. She was a fighter with an independent spirit and a strong will. All traits that she has passed along to her daughters and grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed and is survived by her two daughters Donna Stanley and companion Daniel Burke of Bradington, Florida. Diane (David) Benner of Warren, Maine. Bonus daughter Dawn (John) Boden of Waterville, Maine, two granddaughters, four grandsons and seven great grandchildren and many more extended family, neighbors and friends.
Service details: A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 2 -5 at the Windsor Fair Grounds in Windsor. Burial immediately following at the Chadwick Hill Cemetery in South China.
Special Thanks to the many wonderful friends and neighbors who loved and supported Mom as their own. Also, to Dr. Robert Hunold and Beacon hospice for providing wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hall Funeral Home of Waldoboro. To offer online condolences, or to share a story or photo, visit Juanita's Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.
