Our beloved Kevin John Carroll, age 67, passed away on March 15th from sudden cardiac arrest.
Kevin was born April 16, 1955, in Dover, New Hampshire but spent his formative years in West Palm Beach, FL, after moving there with his mom and two brothers in 1965. He left Florida to attend Auburn University where his blood turned orange and blue before going on to Ole Miss Law. Kevin moved back to West Palm to begin his career as a trial attorney, and it was there where he met his wife, Lane.
Kevin and Lane moved to Tallahassee in 1992 where he established his reputation as a consummate lawyer and practiced for 20 years before being appointed as circuit judge. He was extremely proud to serve as a judge and loved his job, approaching each case with the utmost fairness and compassion. The only title he loved more than judge was that of Dad. Kevin loved his family deeply and was the most wonderful husband and father. He was extremely proud of his children and made sure that they knew and felt that.
We will carry with us Kevin's love of Auburn football, the Grateful Dead, black labs, and St. George Island. Kevin loved his weekend clay shoots with his buddy Richard Bevis, camping with his kids, fishing, and just overall basking in the simple things in life.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Susan Cameron Watson, Jack Watson, and Harry Carroll; parents-in-law, Beth Arnold McGehee and E. Martin McGehee; sister-in-law Betty McGehee, as well as his beloved black labs Buddy and Winston and his hero Jerry Garcia. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lane (McGehee) Carroll; daughter Kasey Carroll of Austin, TX; son Drew (Liz) Carroll of Nashville, TN; brother Gary (Nona) Carroll of Wellington, FL; and brother Brian (Cherie) Carroll of Carmel, ME. He is also survived by his step-siblings John (Lana) Watson, Roy (Cathy) Watson, Harriett Watson, and countless friends.
Service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, March 22nd at St. John's Episcopal Church in Tallahassee. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association. We also ask that you consider giving a wholehearted "war eagle" to anyone you pass by in Auburn gear, picking out the perfect card for a loved one's birthday, reading some Hemingway, or asking the bartender for a "frosty cold draft Budweiser."

To the Carroll family.
We miss Judge Carroll who had very infectious laugh that would take over a room. He enjoyed wearing his Gator gear when he was in the courthouse and was just as proud as his colleagues were wearing their FSU gear.
Please know that he has not been forgotten.
Praying that the Lord will continue to bless and keep his precious family.

I met Kevin when he was fresh out of Law school. We worked at the same firm where he met Lane I believe. He was cuckoo crazy for her but she wasn´t feeling it! He persisted. They fell In love. Lane and I have our first babies at the first time. They were at my wedding. Lane and I became daily friends. I just Adored her. Felt I was special because she confided In me. I loved her. She and Kevin were at my wedding. Our oaths moved on but thru Fb we knew what the other was doing. I simply loved her to pieces and that love survived 4 decades. Cannot bear to think of her pain.
