Judith Black, 82, of Monroe, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her daughter’s residence in Monroe, Indiana.
She was born on July 12, 194,2 at home in Van Wert County to the late Woodrow and Catherine Tinkham.
Judith was a graduate from Pleasant Mills High School. She was employed with Decatur Industries for thirty years and retired from Decatur Wire Die.
She was a member of Salem Community Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and reading, especially on her front porch where she watched over her neighborhood. She valued spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judith had a great friendship with her neighbors, especially one who she enjoyed counting down the ice cream drumsticks. She enjoyed her daily phone calls with her friends and family and breakfast dates with her siblings at the Pancake House.
Judith is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Kevin) Cook of Monroe, Indiana; daughter, Chrissy (Gary) Cearns of Decatur, Indiana; bonus daughter, Angie (Marc) Lichtle of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Robert (Dianna) Tinkham of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Janet Loshe of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Cathy (Ed) Brite of Decatur, Indiana; brother, William Tinkham of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Vernon “Doc” Tinkham of Decatur, Indiana; brother Terry “Skeeter” (Karen) Tinkham of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Janie (Mike) Ross of Willshire, Ohio; brother, John (Carla) Tinkham of Oklahoma; brother, James Tinkham of Springfield, Missouri; sister, Jackie (Shell) Baughman of Decatur, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Crystal (Mike) Dwyer, Laura (Robby) Shoaf, Sarah (Seth) Seip, Shalynn (Angelo) Cearns, Cody (Jesshica) Cearns, Lucy and Mae Lichtle; 11 great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Parker, Walker, Roselynn, Nora, River, Jaxson, Landon, Chandler, Elias, Malachi, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her four brothers, Larry Tinkham, Charles Tinkham, Jerry Tinkham, and Mark Tinkham (infancy); and her brother-in-law, Edward Loshe.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Homes in Decatur, Indiana with a burial service at Tricker Cemetery to follow.
Friends and Family will be received from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials can be made to the family, and checks made payable to Zwick and Jahn Funeral Homes.
