Judith "Kay" Broadway

Judith Broadway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James Funeral Home on Jan. 10, 2026.
Judith "Kay" Broadway, 79, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Born on April 29, 1946, Kay was a proud Huntersville native, deeply rooted in the community she always called home. She was the daughter of the late Harry W. Hager and Ruth Irvin Hager, and sister to Eddie Hager and Wesley Hager.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved nephew Forrest E. Hager, and her great-grandson Jackson Arnold.

She dedicated 38 years of loyal service to Carolina Tractor & Equipment, where she retired as Credit Manager, earning the respect of colleagues through her professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic.

Above all else, Kay's greatest joy in life was her family-especially her sons, who were the center of her world. She was a devoted mother to Brian (Roxanne) Broadway and Larry (Donna) Broadway, and a loving grandmother to Brooke (Stephen) Helms, Brianna Broadway (Alex Allendale), Whitney Broadway (James Hooven), Maddie Broadway (Quinn Olson), Holly (Andrew) Cox, and Ashley Arnold.

She was also a proud great-grandmother to Alayna Cox and Kensley Arnold, loving each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally.

Most of us knew her affectionately as "Kaye" -yes, with an "e." It was only after her passing, while reviewing documents, that the family discovered her birth name was Kay, without the "e." At some point along the way, she added it herself-a small but perfect testament to how she lived her life: by her own rules, with independence, confidence, and a feisty Southern spirit that never faded. That same tenacious spirit carried her through life and shined right up until the end.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 2:00 PM at James Funeral Home in Huntersville. Family will receive friends for a time of visitation one-hour prior at 1:00 PM. The interment will follow the funeral at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in https://Cornelius.

Pallbearers will be:

Alex Allendale, Andrew Cox, Eric Good, James Hooven, Quinn Olson, and Scott Oddo.

Honorary Pallbearers are:

Brian Blythe and Kelly Causby.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
