Judith Mary Bryan of Chester, WV., passed away at her daughter's home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer less than a month ago.
Judy was born on March 17, 1947, in East Liverpool Ohio to the late Blondena Hogue Pugh and Carl Pugh. Judy lived in Chester her entire life, spending the last 56 years at her meticulously cared-for home "up on the hill".
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Clarence, Richard, and Howard Pugh, and sister, Patricia Williams. She is survived by her sister, Carla Fryer, and brothers, Jim, and Jeff Pugh. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Carl Bryan.
Judy married Sam Bryan Jr., in 1963, and loved him with everything she had until his death in 1999. They spent their years together dancing, gardening, raising their children and grandchildren, and supporting one another in sickness and health. Judy loved shopping trips with her daughters, doing puzzles, crawling around with her great-grandchildren, decorating and cooking/baking for holidays, coffee on her back porch, and above all else, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Judy was a member of the First Christian Church of Chester.
She is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Gardner and her husband Jeff of East Liverpool, Julie Olmstead and her husband Don of Edgewood, MD., and Bonnie Kendall and her husband Brian of East Liverpool. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erica (Jeremy) Coyle, Zach, and Paige Underwood, Latisha, and Jade Olmstead, and Samantha and Madison Kendall. She also cherished her five great-grandsons, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Jasper, Lincoln, and Elias. She will be remembered by her family for her loving and nurturing heart and strong, independent spirit. There wasn't a scratched knee or ripped pair of pants that Grammy Judy couldn't fix. Her big pots of Noodles truly healed the soul and a goodbye hug and kiss from her made it feel a little safer to go back out into the world. She will be deeply missed.
Services will be held at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester with visiting hours on Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am with her eulogy being performed by her nephew, Rev. Quint Bryan. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester. A gathering will be hosted afterward at the First Christian Church in Chester.
