Judith A. Chanler (Judy Shelley), of Naples, NY, passed away on August 18, 2025, fortified by the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church. Beloved mother of Nicole Chanler, former spouse of Wayne Chanler, DDS, daughter of the late Gladys (Goldbeck) and William Shelley. Treasured sister of Jeanne (Greg) Timme, the late Kathy Shelley, Linda (Dan) Fitzgerald, Peggy (Neal) Lappe, Bill (Libby) Shelley, Jan Saverin, Tom Shelley, the late Steve (Jackie) Shelley, adored sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, godmother, niece, cousin, cherished friend and colleague.

Judy dedicated fifty years to the dental profession, beginning her career as a dental assistant at Washington University Dental Center in St. Louis. She later taught dental assisting at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY, and Vatterott College in St. Louis, MO. Judy played a pivotal role in founding Naples Valley Dental, a family dental practice in Naples, NY, which has been serving the community for forty-seven years. Her career concluded in 2020, when she retired from Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers Dental Care for Kids, where she managed the dental office at its former Lindell Blvd location in the Central West End of St. Louis, MO.

Judy found joy in a variety of crafts, often creating unique works of art from costume jewelry and decorative embellishments. She was known for her drive, determination, and the deep, unwavering love she held for her family and friends.

Though she leaves us too soon, her memory will remain ever present in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and warmth that continues to inspire and comfort her family and friends.
