Judith Ann Conrad (nee Lorenzen), of St. Charles, MO, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of Duane E. Conrad; cherished daughter of the late Gustav "Ted" and Anna Lorenzen; devoted mother of Cindy (the late John) Sheldon, Dave (Teresa) Conrad, Lisa (Dave Echenoz) Conrad, and the late Mark Edward Conrad; loving grandmother of Raymond (Victoria) Konold, James (Gillian Walsh) Konold, and Amelia Konold; treasured great-grandmother of Matilda Konold; and dear sister of the late Gerry (Dave survives) Johnston.

Judy was born in Cedar Rapids on July 28, 1937. She met Duane when they were just 14 years old, and what began as young love blossomed into a lifelong marriage after high school—a union no one thought would last, but it certainly did. In the early 1960s, they moved to Denver, purchased their first home, and raised their family. A devout woman of faith, Judy was an active member of Wellshire Presbyterian Church, where she and Duane helped with the youth group and organized fun church events. She worked at Systematics as a key punch operator and wrote heartfelt articles about family life for Rocky Mountain News and Virginia Village News. Always generous with her time and compassion, Judy spent several years assembling care packages for soldiers during the Vietnam War.

Judy loved the holidays and celebrated them with enthusiasm and joy. Known as “the neighborhood babysitter,” she had a deep love for children, and as “the card lady,” she was famous for sending cards to family, friends, classmates, acquaintances she met in restaurants, those grieving the loss of loved ones, and individuals struggling with mental illness. Judy’s kindness, empathy, and humor touched everyone she met. She was a wonderful listener who always stood up for the underdog and found laughter in life’s mishaps—like the time she fell into a window well while pregnant and watering the lawn, having to be rescued by a neighbor as water splashed everywhere. Judy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
