Judith Lynn Gahan

Judith Lynn. Gahan, 85, of McHenry passed away peacefully April 14, 2025. Loving wife of the late Joe Gahan. Devoted mother to Brian (Cindy) Gahan, Jolynn (Richard) Gibson, and Sean Gahan. Cherished grandma to Liam (Ann) Gahan, Ethan Gahan and Megan Gahan. Adored great-grandma to Jacob Gahan. Loving sister to Carole (Mick) Thomas. Dear sister-in-law to Kathleen Hessell and Jeff (Susan) Gahan. Preceded in death by her husband Joe, and parents George and Helen Rehberg.
Judy grew up in Huntley, IL and attended the James Ward Thorne School of Nursing of Passavant Memorial Hospital, in Chicago (affiliated with Northwestern University) graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1961. She married her high school sweetheart in June of that year and soon started her family. Her career in nursing spanned over 4 decades in IL, MI, OH and PA. She specialized in obstetrics and IV therapy and concluded her career in Home Care. She touched the lives of countless families with her compassion, care, and warmth. She had a passion for sewing, cooking and family. She made friends easily everywhere she lived and stayed in touch with them for many years. Judy found joy in spending time with her family and creating memories together. Judy's generosity was boundless; she was always the first to lend a helping hand and uplift those around her. Her legacy of love and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr. McHenry IL from 10:00am-11:00am. A service will be held at 11:00am. Burial to follow at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock IL. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of White Oaks at McHenry and Journey Care Hospice for their overwhelming support, and making Judy's last days comfortable.
