Judith A. Gottier

Judith A. (MacDonald) Gottier, 83, of South Windsor, formerly of Vernon, beloved wife of Thomas H. Gottier, died peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Manchester Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Judith was born in Winthrop, MA, on April 30, 1940, daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Spencer) MacDonald. She was a graduate of Winthrop High School with the Class of 1957. She and her husband Thomas went on their first date on April 8, 1957, and were married on August 1, 1959. Together they settled in Vernon where they raised a family and lived for over 60 years. She enjoyed the beach and swimming in the ocean, camping, bowling, and sewing. Judith cherished her family and found immense joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also very much looked forward to her Friday evening phone calls with her sister. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Evergreen Crossings Retirement Community and the nurses and staff at Manchester Hospital Critical Care Unit for their kind and compassionate care. Along with her husband of over 60 years, Thomas, she leaves her children, Michael Gottier and his wife Lynne of South Windsor, James Gottier and his wife Tara of Stafford Springs, Anne M. Walsh and her partner Vinnie Frogameni of Coventry, and Daniel Gottier and his wife Pamela of Vernon; her siblings, Eleanor Louveau of Waterloo, IL, Mary Beaudin and her husband Fred of Woburn, MA, John MacDonald and his wife Lea of Belfast, ME, Evelyn Dellorfano of East Boston, MA, and Barbara Grant of Randolph, MA; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arthur and Judy Gottier of Tolland; and her close friends, Ken and Carolyn McQuaid of Stafford Springs. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas MacDonald. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 5-7 p.m., and on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 12 p.m., in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the request of her family.
