Judith Eileen Fennell Gregorek
April 14, 1943 – July 29, 2025
Judith Eileen Fennell Gregorek, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025. Born on April 14, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to John and Gladys Fennell, Judy lived a life defined by compassion, devotion, and service to others.
Judy met the love of her life, Joseph Gregorek, while attending St. Michael's Catholic High School in Brooklyn. The two shared 62 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. In their later years, they built their retirement home in Palacios, Texas where family, friends, and neighbors were always welcomed with open arms and warm hearts.
Judy's early career began after high school in New York, but her true calling emerged after moving to Texas, where she pursued her passion for serving others. She completed her nursing degree and became a registered nurse, working at several local hospitals including Tomball Hospital, Health South, and Methodist Hospital. Judy also served others through her work in home health care, offering comfort, support, and dignity to those in need. She later served as a case manager and was quickly promoted to manager of case managers. Her dedication to her patients and colleagues was matched only by her love for her family and her community.
Judy's close relationship with The Lord was second to none, a guiding light throughout her life. She was deeply involved in church activities, including leading the youth group, where her warmth and guidance left a lasting impact. In her neighborhood, she was affectionately known as "the mother to everyone," or simply "Mama G," a reflection of the love, support, and wisdom she freely gave to all who knew her. Whether she was tending to her garden, making her famous medicinal chicken soup for anyone under the weather, or gathering friends and family for a celebration, Judy made everyone feel cared for and at home. She truly cherished moments spent with loved ones, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her sister Virginia "Ginny" Newman, brother John Fennell, father-in-law Henry Gregorek, mother-in-law Mary Gregorek, brother-in-law Andrew Gregorek, niece Tara Tamasi, and nephew David Mueller.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Gregorek; their three children: daughter Jennifer Coburn and husband Ken, son Douglas Gregorek and wife Shannon, and daughter Deirdre Cash and husband Charles. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Christian, Caige, Camryn, Cason, Cole, Chayton, Palmer, and Levi. She is also survived by her sister Susan Mueller and husband Jim, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and numerous dear friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Caydance Assisted Living and Memory Care and Accredited Hospice of Houston. Their love and support over the past five years has been nothing short of incredible. Thank you so much for the work you do!
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Klein Funeral Home 9719 Wortham Blvd
Houston, TX 77065.
The family welcomes plants and flowers. However, for those who wish to donate, please consider giving to an organization of your choice in her honor. More than anything, the family's greatest request is simple: "Do what Mama G would do." Go out and do something kind for someone else in her memory. Whether it's preparing a meal for someone in need, spending time with those who are isolated, gather friends and family to make precious memories, or striking up a conversation with a stranger – kindness, no matter how small, matters.
