Judith Jalbert Obituary

Visit the Dolby, Blais & Segee - Windham Chapel website to view the full obituary.

Judith A. Jalbert (Foster), “Judy,” age 78, passed away peacefully in her home on March 22, 2026. She was born on March 12, 1948, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Winston and Patricia Foster (Doucette).

Judy grew up in Norridgewock, ME, with her two sisters and graduated from Skowhegan High School, Class of 1966. She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, ME, graduating with the Class of 1969. She took her first nursing position at a Boston hospital and later returned to Maine to work in the ER at Mercy Hospital. She proudly served as the first volunteer on the Town of Windham’s ambulance crew. Her dedication to caring for others with kindness and empathy were qualities that defined her both professionally and personally.

Judy shared 53 years of marriage with her husband, Thomas W. Jalbert. They started their life together in Windham, ME, and moved to a couple of different states where several of their children were born and spent their early years. Tom and Judy always knew that Maine was home and wanted to return to continue raising their children. Together, they built a life centered on family, compassion, and unwavering support for one another.

Judy was a devoted mother to her five children: Arynne Jalbert of Buxton; Jennifer Nketia and her husband, Kevin, of Manchester, CT; TJ Jalbert of Mount Airy, MD; Courtney Edwards and her husband, Sears, of Windham; and Taylor Jalbert of Standish. Her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished her role as “Grammie” to Sylvana and Mateo and as “Gigi” to Jayden, Peyton, and Denver, each of whom brought endless happiness to her life.

She leaves behind her two “seesters,” Diane Lyman of Hartford, CT; Cathy Fortier of Windham and a sister-in-law, Doris Wheaton and her husband, Art, of Summerfield, NC; nieces and nephews; along with many friends whom she thought of as family.

Judy was a loving and generous soul who gave everything she had to her family and friends. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching Hallmark movies, sharing popcorn and ice cream, and most of all, spending time with the people she loved. She was known for her contagious laugh (aka her signature snort) and had her own language, lovingly known as “Judy-isms.” Jersey Mike’s was forever “Magic Mike’s,” Applebee’s was always “Bumblebees,” and her ordering a Dilly Bar at Dairy Queen will always make us laugh. That was part of her charm—you didn’t correct her, you joined her. Her quirks weren’t just funny—they were a part of what made her who she was. More than anything, she was love—in her home, her voice, her presence. You always knew you were safe and cared for.

Judy will be remembered for her warmth, her selflessness, and the deep love she had for those around her. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visiting hours will be held from 1–3 p.m. on Friday, April 3, at Dolby, Blais & Segee, 434 River Road, Windham, ME, with a Catholic service following at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Morrison Center of Scarborough, ME, a nonprofit organization that supports children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
