Judy De Prospo, 92, of Amarillo, TX passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Inurnment will be in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, TX.
Judy was born August 22, 1932, in Bronx, NY to Herman and Elsie (Moses) Newberger. Judy was a fiercely proud New Yorker. She was born and raised in the Bronx. She moved to Bay Shore, Long Island after marrying Lenny, the love of her life. She lived there for 60 years before moving to Amarillo, Texas to be with family.
Judy started her career as a medical secretary and ended it as a school secretary for the Bay Shore school district. The highlight of her career was working as a Congressional aide for Congressman Thomas Downey. She flew on Air Force 1 and attended President Carter's inauguration. She was an avid baseball fan and attended almost all of the Amarillo Sod Poodle games. Judy loved to cook Italian food and entertain people. She loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Leonard DeProspo, her brother, Arnold Newberger, her sister-in-law, Miriam Newberger and her son in law, James Gloor.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Gloor, her son, The Honorable William DeProspo (Catherine) , grandchildren, Br. Kelly Clements (Marc) , Christopher Gloor (Stephanie) , Atticus DeProspo, Bartlet DeProspo, Chatham Johnston (Graham), three special great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Mackenzie, Benjamin, and baby Johnston coming soon.
