Judith (Judy) Abare Fountain, age 73, of
Temperance, MI, passed away on January 16th, 2026 at home, peacefully with loved ones after a short battle with cancer.
Judy was born on May 2, 1952 in
Malone, New York. She was the daughter of Berton and Rose (LaFave) Abare. Judith known affectionately as Judy- lived a vibrant and full life marked by creativity, and deep affection for her family and friends.
Judy graduated from Franklin Academy High School with a spirit of curiosity and carried with her a lifelong love of learning and trying new things. Her interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt-she enjoyed fishing, panning for gold, gardening, and playing darts. She had a particular fondness for dart leagues and proudly earned numerous trophies over the years. She found joy in the quiet arts of crocheting, knitting, and sewing-skills she practiced with care and pride. Her home was often filled with the comforting hum of these crafts in progress, each stitch a testament to her patience and love.
A devoted plant enthusiast, Judy nurtured her garden with the same tenderness she extended to those around her. A lover of stories both real and imagined, Judy was an avid viewer of true crime shows and found joy in the whimsical worlds of Scooby-Doo and Harry Potter. Her home was filled with warmth and laughter during visits with family and her cat Smoky was a cherished companion who brought her comfort and companionship through the years.
Family meant everything to Judy. She treasured visits with loved ones and held close the bonds she shared with them.
Judy is survived by her four children: Colin (Geri) Abare of Temperance MI, Kristy (Eric) Shoup of Columbus OH, Jeffrey (Kathi) Adams of Cheyenne Wyoming, and Michael (Cassie) Adams of Riverton Wyoming. Her grandchildren Colin Abare Jr. (Michelle), Pearl Barton (Bob), Colten and Phoenix Fried, Devon and Davian Shoup, Angela Davis (Braeden), Jeffrey Adams Jr., Ethan and Emma Adams. She is also survived by her only great grandson Lux whom she loved with every ounce of her being as well as her beloved cat Smokey.
Judy is also survived by her sisters Mae, Charlene and Tracy. Her nieces Michele and Paulette, Debbie, Tracy and Lori and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jackie, and her beloved husband Richard. Judy will be laid to rest beside Richard in Constable New York as per her wishes. In accordance with those wishes, no funeral services will be held.
Judy loved life deeply-its simple pleasures, its challenges, its beauty-and she cherished the people who shared it with her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
