Bowman Funeral Directors - Garden CityJudith E. Koch, age 86, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025.
She was born on August 20, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Albert and Marion Wittenberg. In her earlier years, Judi lived in many places across the United States and abroad, moving to a wide range of duty stations during her father’s Air Force career and later her husband’s Navy service.
In the 1990s, Judi settled in Boise—a city she came to love and call home. She embraced the community and built lasting friendships, cherishing the beauty and spirit of Idaho.
Judi had a long history of volunteering with and supporting charitable organizations, including the Red Cross, Idaho Food Bank, Idaho Humane Society, Breaking Chains of Nampa, Zoo Boise, and the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation. She was proud to have been selected as Navy Wife of the Year and to have served twice as President of the Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs Boise Columbian Club.
She was at times a small business owner, a Eucharistic Minister, and an administrative assistant at a community college, where she also had the opportunity to teach office skills. Judi loved sharing her enthusiasm for ceramics, antiques, and cake decorating with others, bringing joy and creativity into the lives of those around her. She passed on her deep appreciation for reading, art, and community service to her children.
She is survived by her son, Christopher, and daughter in law, Felicia, of Costa Rica; her son, Timothy, and his partner, Naomi, of Minnesota; her daughter, Julia, of Idaho; her sister, Pat, of Oregon; and her nieces, Candy and Renee, of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of many years, AVCM (ret.) Richard J. Koch.
Judi will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and her giving spirit. Her legacy of service, faith, and compassion lives on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Mark's Catholic church with a rosary and visitation held one hour prior to the service. A committal service will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery.
