Judith (Gates) Malpass Minnaugh, age 87, of East Lansing, Michigan and previously of Millcreek, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born in Gouverneur, New York on September 18, 1938, a daughter of the late Helen and Mark Gates.
Survivors include her children, Julie C. Gray, husband Matthew, of Holt, MI, Scott C. Malpass of North Palm Beach, FL, Todd G. Malpass of Boston, MA, Michael R. Malpass, wife Aqila, of Hoover, AL, and Kevin P. Malpass, wife Laura, of Columbus, OH, Mark Minnaugh (Diane), Matthew Minnaugh, Martin Minnaugh (Michelle), daughter-in-law Kimberly Minnaugh; grandchildren, Molly Brown (Jacob), Sarah Keron (Michael), Ryan Gray (Linley), Adia Garner (Brett), Aaron, Aden, Eva, Elizabeth, Sylvia, Magdalena, William Malpass, and great grandchildren Conrad and Stella Brown, Kolette Keron, Graham Gray; and a brother James C. Gates (Barbara); and many nieces and nephews. In addition, ten Minnaugh grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Minnaugh; former husband Charles M. Malpass; a son, Michael J. Minnaugh; a sister, Kay G. Lennox and brother-in-law Gordon T. Lennox; and her Aunt Marjorie Casten.
Judy graduated from Academy High School class of 1957 followed by the St. Vincent Health System School of Nursing. She became a registered nurse, a profession she loved and worked in for most of her life. She was an avid bridge player and loved playing a variety of card games with friends and family. For many years she crocheted and made gifts for the family. She loved shopping for antiques, the beach at Presque Isle State Park, and her golden retrievers Libby and Fiona. Judy loved attending football games at the University of Notre Dame with her children and grandchildren, and baseball games with Mike in Cleveland. She loved traveling with her husband Mike and the GE retirement group where they saw the world with many close friends. She was also an avid reader.
Friends are invited to call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, on Friday, January 9th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A service will be held there on Saturday, January 10th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude’s the Apostle Church at 10 a.m. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Erie – www.eriehumanesociety.org.

So sorry to hear about Aunt Judy's passing.She was married to my Uncle Mike.She was always so kind and enjoyed life to the fullest. My prayers go to all her family.My husband Brian got a kick out of her wit.Since I recently lost Brian,they both are watching us down from heaven.May she rest in peace.
