1939–2025

Judith Mitchell, 85, of Mulberry Grove, IL, passed away on the morning of Saturday, November 29th.

She was born on New Year's Eve in 1939 in Granite City, IL, to Charles and Myrtle Patton. She married James H. Mitchell on November 8, 1958. She cherished her marriage to James Mitchell and the following love of her life, Norman Jones, both of whom preceded her in death.

Judy was the life of the party wherever she went and was so loved by many. She enjoyed being a homemaker and worked as an Avon representative in her younger years. She also made lasting friendships while working at the Vandalia Leader-Union newspaper and looked forward to meeting up for lunch at various local restaurants each month. She absolutely loved working and helping out in any way she could at her granddaughter's wedding business, Loveland Estates in Pocahontas, IL for the last decade.

Judy was a beloved Grandma and Gigi. She loved with all her heart and had a gift for making everyone's life she touched memorable. She was a fashionista, had a love for Bruno Mars and enjoyed decorating her house from floor to ceiling for every holiday. Our hearts are broken, but we will cherish all the loving, fun memories and traditions we shared with her. She was truly the most magnetic, vibrant, kind and caring person.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, James Patton and Charles Patton. She is survived by her three children: Donald Mitchell (Tammy), Debra Torbeck (Kent), and Susan Jones (Scott); 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
