Judith Petty Obituary
Judith Lynn Petty, age 65, of Asheboro passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025 surrounded by loved ones at her home. She was born September 5, 1960 in Randolph County, North Carolina the daughter of the late Maurice Elsworth Petty. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Keith Laughlin.
Lynn was a woman whose life was a testament to devotion, kindness, and joy. As a dedicated wife and mother, she found her greatest fulfillment in the love and laughter shared with family. Her adoration for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent in their company. Her unwavering dedication to her disabled son, Matthew, was a beautiful reflection of her compassionate and nurturing spirit. Their close relationship was a source of strength and joy for both. Her passion for NASCAR, particularly as the administrator for the Petty Blue fan page, highlighted her pride in her family's racing heritage. Lynn's enthusiasm for the sport was infectious. With an outgoing personality and a knack for making friends easily. She enjoyed fishing, finding peace and joy in nature's embrace, and sharing those moments with loved ones. A woman of faith, Lynn loved the Lord and attended Freedom Life Church of God in Asheboro. Although her health challenges eventually limited her participation, her faith remained an integral part of her life.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Matthew Steven Davis and wife Margaret Ann Davis and Cameron Davis and wife Heather Davis; daughters, Stephanie Davis and Sally Ann Butts; grandchildren, Corey Davis, Natalie Davis, Brody Davis, Waylen Davis, Ava Crozier, Trinity Seals, Layla Patterson, Paulina Palmer and one grandchild on the way; great grandchildren, Truett Shue and Kaspian Lewis; brothers, Timmy Petty (Connie), Mark Petty, and Ritchie Petty (Teresa), sister, Elizabeth Petty Kratzenberg; and numerous other beloved family and friends.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Matthew Davis's Long Term Care Fund to assist with the ongoing needs.
