Judith F. Plummer, 86, of Kingston, passed away peacefully Aug. 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and unwavering devotion to those fortunate enough to know her.
Born Dec. 4, 1938, in Alexandria, Va., to Herbert and Fannye Jo Plummer, Judy's life was a vibrant tapestry of service, creativity and deep connection.
A proud graduate of Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington, D.C., Judy began her career in the office of Senator Al Gore Sr., where her sharp intellect and warm presence shone brightly. Her spiritual calling led her to enter the order of the Holy Cross, during which time she earned a master's degree in American History from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.
After leaving the convent, Judy dedicated 25 years to King's College in Wilkes-Barre as the director of student activities, where her infectious enthusiasm and genuine care touched countless lives. Upon retirement, she adjunct taught a leadership course at King's College, inspiring students with her wisdom and passion for empowering others, and continued her service by running the associates' program for the Sisters of the Holy Cross.
Judy was a world-class listener, with a heart so open it seemed to hold space for everyone she met. Her humor was a gift — quick, warm and disarming — bringing light to even the heaviest moments. A passionate and gifted painter, Judy's artwork was a vivid expression of her soul, showcased in numerous art shows throughout the region. Her canvases, like her life, were filled with color, depth and beauty.
Beloved wherever she went, Judy's warmth and wisdom left an indelible mark on her family, friends and community.
She is survived by her older brother, Joseph Plummer, of Lincoln, Del.; sister-in-law, Terry Plummer; eight nieces and nephews, including Cecilia Galante, Josie Jesser, Lionel Plummer, Joseph Plummer, Therese Plummer, Margaret Plummer, Dr. Samuel Plummer and Herbert Plummer; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will carry her love forward.
A memorial Mass will be said for Judy at St. Nicholas-St. Mary's Church in Wilkes-Barre, in the near future. Further details will be forthcoming.
Judy's life was a masterpiece of compassion, creativity and deep love. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit lives on in every laugh shared, every story told, and every heart she touched.

I will miss her wit and wisdom. She was one of our residents that hid her pain by telling jokes.
I love her nickname for me " Angel without wings."
My sincere condolences to the relatives she left behind!

I have known Judy for decades as a friend, confidante, and fellow artist. As the director of the college art gallery, she provided my first real solo show. Through the years we collaborated on numerous projects. She was there when I received my Honorary Doctorate from Kings, cheering me on! For the past 5 or 6 years, we have texted EVERY SINGLE EVENING sharing with each other photos of our artwork for the day. I shall miss her more than words can say.

Judy Plummer was the best grade school teacher of all time!
I felt a sincere connection to her and sense of peace in her presence.
I knew as a sensitive child that she was filled love and life!
I´ll never forget one year when I was in the 6th grade and Judy broke her hip and was dismissed from her teaching duty for a period of time.
I missed her so much that when I saw her at St. Patrick´s Church in Milford, PA sitting in the pew, I ran to her after receiving communion, gave her a huge hug and cried in her arms. I missed her that much!
I loved her so much!
Rest in the peace of Jesus favorite grade school teacher!
I love you!
Love,
Dottie

I initially met Judy as a fellow student at Sue Hand´s. I loved the depth of her conversations and her great intellect and generosity of spirit. She was often able to articulate aspects of my paintings that I felt deeply but was unable to articulate. I am happy to have a small painting of hers in my living room and every time I look at it I feel like warmth of her personality. I will miss her a great deal.
