Judith Thacker Jefferson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vincent Funeral Home - Providence Forge on Jun. 6, 2024.
Judith "Juie" Anne Thacker Jefferson, born August 1, 1945, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2024, Judy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
Judy is survived by her two children, Vernon "Archie" and Melissa, of whom she is very proud. If you asked Judy, however, her third and favorite child was her dog, Lady. Judy was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren (Leah, Taylor, Kendall, Kameron, and Angel) and eight great-grandchildren, each holding a special place in her heart.
Judy's days were brightened by her daily talks with her friend Tracey and her weekly lunches with her sister, Penny, and niece, Tammy. She treasured her monthly lunches with sister, her brothers, Glenn and Herbert "Stinky,", and sister-in-law's Patsy and Hazel, times filled with reminiscing and creating new memories. Her weekly calls with her granddaughter, Bri, were also a source of joy, keeping their bond strong despite any distance. She also loved to stop by for a "minute" several times a week and check in on her grandson Kam often resulting in him taking his lunch break, not that he minded.
Judy was a lover of travel, always eager to explore new places and cultures, often accompanied by her family and extended family (Pam, Shelly, & Cami). Her adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Judy worked for the County of Henrico for over 45 years. She loved working and seeing her co-workers. She especially liked working the blood drive and helping people with the REAP program.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband William "Sonny", her parents Vernon and Myrtle, In laws, Effie and Carl, brother Vernon, and sister-in-law Peggy. She is also survived by her Sisters and Brothers in Law Maurica (Alvin), Carl (Nancy), and Carol (Nick). Many loved nieces and nephews, family, and friends.
As we remember Judy, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories. The family wishes to thank everyone for remembering them through prayer, cards, letters, flowers, and other acts of kindness. We would like to especially thank care givers Pam Clarke, and Gentiva staff Red and Jade.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held at Samaria Church on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 3 pm, 8130 Lott Cary Road, Providence Forge Va. Burial directly following service. Viewing will take place one hour prior to service. There will be no repast.
If you would like to honor Judy's memory please consider donating blood at VA Blood Services, donating to Feedmore of Richmond, feedmore.org, or doing a random act of kindness. Judy will be remembered for all of these and so much more.
