Judith Romano Varanelli

Obituary
Judith "Judy" Romano Varanelli, passed away at the age of 74 on May 26, 2023, in Long Branch, NJ. She was born on September 3, 1948, in Orange, NJ, to Vincent and Carmela Romano. Judy was a loving mother and caretaker of her mother and aunt before they passed. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for her three children and adored her grandchildren, who called her "Grammy", her dogs and granddogs. She was survived by her son Nicholas Varanelli and his wife Jaclyn Varanelli, her daughter Lisa Varanelli, her daughter Gina Strack and her husband Sean Strack, and her beloved grandchildren Bella, Maddie, Nicky, Sean, Rocco, and Cora. She was also survived by her brother Anthony Romano and his wife Maria, her brother Vincent Romano and his wife Debbie, along with her nephew Anthony and nieces Maria, Carla, and Vanessa, and many other nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father Vincent Romano, mother Carmela Romano, her aunt Felicia "Tita" Rossi, and nephew Frankie Cittadino.
Judy attended Orange High School where she was a twirler for the Orange Tornadoes Football team. She graduated high school in 1966. From the time she was born, Judy spent her summers in Lavallette, NJ and moved to Little Silver in 1986. She later retired from Early Years Preschool in Little Silver. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, looking for shells and sea glass, making the "gravy" for Sunday dinner, playing on her iPad, and was a diehard New York Yankee fan. She also enjoyed shopping, crossword puzzles, watching General Hospital, the History Channel, and Animal Planet. She loved her ice cream, Italian ice, and dining out.
Visitation will be held at Damiano Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Star of the Sea Church on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 10:00am. Judy will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will always remember her kind and caring nature.
