Judith Ann Walker went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 19, 2026, in her Copan home at the age of 85.
Judy was born the second daughter of Raymond W and Eva May (Ulam) Scott on October 10, 1940 in
Kansas City, Missouri. Her father worked for the Gas Service Company of Kansas City and her mother bore six daughters and one son.
Judy was saved and dedicated her life to Jesus Christ at the Dewey Church of the Nazarene. She taught Children's Church for many years, bringing her talent for drawing with oil chalks to her Bible lessons and then giving the completed drawing to a different child each week. She also coordinated and taught crafts including ceramics and woodwork at Vacation Bible School.
Judy graduated from
Kansas City, Missouri East High in 1958. She was accepted into the respected Kansas City Art Institute and studied there for 2 years, while she also worked in Graphic Design for Proctor and Gamble. During this time she met Floyd Walker as they resided at the same rooming house. Judy and Floyd were married on May 5, 1961 and 4 months later, Floyd was drafted into the U.S. Army. They relocated to Virginia where Floyd was stationed at Fort Eustis. During their time in Virginia, Judy attended William & Mary and worked at the Fort Eustis Aircraft Service Center. When Floyd was discharged from the Army in 1963, the couple moved back to
Kansas City, Missouri where their first daughter was born in 1964. Floyd was transferred with the Gas Service Company to
Bartlesville, Oklahoma shortly after their first daughter was born. In 1966, they moved to the Copan home where they raised two daughters, one son, and resided together for almost 60 years.
Back in Oklahoma, Judy's college focus changed from art to education and she graduated from Tulsa University in 1971 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Judy taught at Copan Elementary School for over 20 years, spending most of her career teaching First Grade. Judy had a passion for teaching children to read and she designed a reading curriculum she named the "Alpha Babies" which incorporated rules of grammar and reading skills into stories the children loved.
Judy is survived by husband Floyd Walker, daughters Lori Brant and Julie (Joel) Heid, son Wade (Niki) Walker, grandchildren Shelby Brant, Braden (Abby) Heid, Chandler (Emily) Heid, Cole (Gaby) Walker, Cadet Heid, Claire Walker, Garrett Walker, Lily Walker, and great grandchildren Kalani Walker, Caleb Walker, Joel Heid, Tate Heid, and Baby Walker due in August. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters.
Judy and her prayers will be missed by the family, but we are grateful she is now free of pain and with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 14th at the Dewey Church of the Nazarene. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory - Walker Brown Chapel.
