Judy was born January 19, 1953 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Ray and Millie (Gubbels) Broich. She graduated from Kuemper High School. Affectionately known to most everyone as Jude, she worked at General Electric for 25 years until the plant closed in 1998. She worked several other jobs including Community Opportunities and Commercial Savings Bank before finishing her working career at Carroll Community School as a teacher's assistant. Judy worked for the kindergarten teachers and was also the crossing guard every morning and afternoon. Most of us will remember her smiling face and friendly wave as she escorted the children safely across the street, needless to say, winter had its challenges. Judy loved working with and teaching the kids. Judy retired in 2015 and was ready to do some traveling with her spouse Dee.
Camping and fishing were two of Judy's hobbies and you could find her at a campground every weekend. In addition to camping and fishing, Jude LOVED to cook and made a real mean carrot cake.
In 2019, they drove the motorhome south for the winter to Apache Junction, Arizona. After spending the winter there, they purchased a home for the winter months. In 2021, the decision was made to sell the motorhome. After traveling back to Iowa in the spring, they decided to sell the motorhome and purchase a mobile home at Lake View. Jude loved being by water and had camped at Lake View for years. Judy was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension in 2023.
Survivors include her spouse, Deanne Simons of Lake View, other extended family members, and countless good friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Millie Broich; her grandparents Tony and Bertha Broich and Leo and Madeline Gubbels; and many aunts and uncles.
