Judy Chapman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Service - Fountain Inn on Jan. 16, 2026.
Judy Faye Jennings Chapman, 79, of Hickory Tavern, went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2026.

She was born in West Greenville to the late Perry and Ollie Jennings.

She was steadfast in her faith and her love for her family and friends. A regular member of Hickory Tavern Church of God, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Her favorite form of kindness was cooking for and feeding everyone – there was never a biscuit left uneaten. A majority of her time was spent with family surrounding the dinner table, but many others in her life will forever share the memory of fish fries on the front porch or having food brought to them by her. No one was a stranger to the lady with the "beehive" hairdo, and she could (and would) talk to you for hours if you'd let her. Rarely seen without a smile on her face, laughter followed her wherever she went.

Even when she worked, it was centered around helping others, as she frequently sat with the elderly while she took care of them and kept them company. In her downtime, she enjoyed crafting and completing word searches or crossword puzzles. She will be especially remembered for her sweet, yet fierce, spirit (and her fudge).

Judy is survived by her children Elaine (Gregg) Phillips-LeDuc, Renee (Mike) McMahon, Elaine Swanson, and Johnny Chapman; grandchildren Thomas Patterson, Will Patterson, Alex (Mandy) Phillips, Brittany (Ferris) Ward, Brandon (Gina) McMahon, AJ (Karie) Swanson, Ashley (Kyle) Brown, Amanda Sparrow, Caleb (Katie) McMahon; great-grandchildren Brianna Ballard, Taylor Cook, Karoline Cook, Makenna Cook, Zane Phillips, Brock McCullough, Landon Knowles, Ahrianna Freeman, Maddox Brown, Uriah Swanson, Theo McMahon, Giaco McMahon, Emerson Swanson, Tala Patterson, and Emmett Patterson; great-great-grandchildren Ian Ballard and Silas Ballard; and siblings Pat Kelly, Jerry (Betty) Jennings, Bill Jennings, Cathy Moody, and Sandy Hodges. She is further survived by other relatives and friends that will greatly miss her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband James Chapman; siblings Martha Kelley and Randy Jennings; daughters Regina Ballard and Faye Patterson; grandsons Michael Patterson and Isaac Swanson; and granddaughter baby girl Patterson.

Service will be held at Hickory Tavern Church of God (The Tavern Church) on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 11:00 o'clock with visitation to follow. Family and friends are welcome to attend and encouraged to wear red, as this was Judy's favorite color. There will be a private burial service for family at a later date.

The church is located at 18069 Hwy 101 South, Gray Court, SC 29645.
