Judy Jolene Wilke Havlik passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, at her home in
Seymour, Indiana, at the age of 83.
Born on March 8, 1942, in Sweetwater, Nebraska, Judy was the daughter of the late Virgil and Ruby Wilke. She often spoke fondly of her childhood on the family farm - lying in the alfalfa fields listening to the wind and talking with God and helping her father move irrigation in the early mornings. She began her eduction in a one-room country schoolhouse before attending town school and later graduating from Ravenna High School.
On January 31, 1960, Judy married Allen Havlik in Ravenna, Nebraska. In 1969, the couple moved to
Seymour, Indiana, where they opened Big Blue Stores, a farm implement and supply business. Judy and Allen shared 63 years of marriage.
A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Judy poured her creativity and talents into caring for her family. From photo retouching and painting wooden crafts to teaching calligraphy designing floral arrangements, and creating banners for churches, she found joy in working from home and using her artistic gifts. She also loved gardening, needlework, and crafting beautiful floral pieces.
Judy's deepest devotion was to her faith in Jesus Christ. For more than thirty years, she hosted weekly Bible studies and prayer groups in her home. She served on church committees, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, organized holiday baskets, and helped launch and volunteer at the local clothing center. She instilled in her family the importance of generosity and being attentive to the needs of others. In her later years, her ministry shifted to sending heartfelt prayers, encouragement, and joy through her greeting card outreach.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Allen, who passed away on November 14, 2023.
She is survived by her children: Jill Robbins, Jeffrey (Kat) Havlik, Jocelyn (Gerald) Zilahenda, and Jonathan Havlik; five grandchildren: Daniel Taskey (fiancé Cassandra Simone), Nicholas (Jenny) Taskey, Andrew (Caelan) Taskey, Brandon (Whitney) Taskey, and Eliana Zilahenda; and seven great-grandchildren: Rory, Allyson, Mayvis, Holdyn, Alec, Hudson and Maya Jo.
She is also survived by her Nebraska family: brothers Kent (Roberta) Wilke, Roger (Jean) Wilke, and Rodney (Brenda) Wilke; sister-in-law Patricia Havlik Stogdill; and several nieces and nephews.
