Judy Diane James, age 67 of Monticello, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 5, 2025, at her home. She was born September 21, 1957, in Monticello, AR to the late Daphney Scogins and Mary Frances Free Scogins.

She was the widow of William Wesley James, Sr., a retired secretary with the UAM Division of Nursing and was a member of Ark of Faith Church and also attended Oak Grove Assembly of God Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Wesley James, Jr.; a daughter, Shawnna Lynnette James; and siblings, Ray Scogins, Mary Davis and Nancy Smith.

Judy loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. Until her health failed, she attended church every time the doors were open. She passionately loved her church family and worshiping the Lord. Judy loved traveling with her family to Branson, the beach and the mountains, attending family get togethers, playing word games, playing badminton and volleyball, swimming, reading her Bible and listening to praise and worship music. She also loved watching her grandchildren in their activities.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie O'Connor and husband Clinton of Wilmar and Leilani James of Monticello; grandchildren, Summer O'Connor and William Clinton O'Connor; siblings, William Robert Scogins of San Antonio, TX and Ann Williams and husband Terry of Monticello; and two great grandchildren, Castle O'Connor and Anchor O'Connor.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. There will be a visitation Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. You can sign Judy's guestbook registry here on her page.
