Judy Anne Light

Judy Anne Light age 78 passed away on October 15, 2024 at her home in Arlington, Virginia. She is survived by cousins Amy Gray and Abigail Gray, close friend of over 40 years Mary Jane Crain, and her much-loved Yorkshire Terrier, Cleopatra (Cleo).
Born in New York, Judy was the daughter of Jane and Wilbur Light. Her sister Susan Light predeceased her. Judy graduated from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also completed graduate studies in statistics, education and social science research.
Although Judy moved to Virginia in the 1970s, she always remained a New Yorker at heart and was proud of her Jewish heritage.
In the late 1970s, Judy worked at the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Association of Physician Programs. She used her analytic skills to help define the role of the then new physician assistant profession in the medical field. Judy always found financial analysis challenging and rewarding. So much so that she received a Master of Science in Financial Services from The American College on October 29, 1994, and transformed this into a second career.
Judy was involved in her community. She served on the Boards of both condominiums, The Rotunda and Alta Vista, where she lived. Judy had an intense interest in politics and had deep convictions about civil rights and freedom. She was a committed Democrat.
As an avid animal lover, Judy supported a range of animal rescue efforts from wild animals like baby elephants to domestic animals like dogs and cats. Judy's true loves, however, were her Yorkshire Terriers. She left behind her last Yorkie and constant companion, Cleopatra (Cleo).
Judy was a loyal and special friend who will be deeply missed.
