Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Judy Kay Lorimor, passed away on Wednesday, August 20,2025 in Rochester, Minnesota. Judy was born to Selmer and Emma (Langseth) Fjerstad of Hayfield, Minnesota on October 18,1946. She was the youngest of nine children.
Judy attended Austin High School and went on to earn her real estate license, broker's license and home appraisal license. Moving to Rochester, she pursued a new career in retail management at Creative Expressions. As store manager she enjoyed sharing her passion for interior design. In retirement, she continued to share her creative talent on the Gramacy decorating committee.
Judy was the heart of her family. She had three children, Todd, Tim and Grant Shatek from her first marriage. They enjoyed fishing and boating on their many vacations up north. On December 16,1978 Judy married Gary Lorimor. They shared a life filled with travel, a love for bow hunting and spending time with family. Judy especially enjoyed preparing holiday meals, with an emphasis on her Norwegian heritage. As "Grandma Judy" to Sarah and Allyson, she loved taking them on holiday scavenger hunts, shoe shopping, baking treats, and teaching them to make lefse. Judy was known for her wonderful laugh and her kindness to all. She will be dearly missed.
Judy is survived by her husband of 46 years Gary, sons; Todd (Tanyia), Tim and Grant, brother Ken (Barb), grandchildren; Sarah (Colin), Allyson (Sam), step grandchildren; Tina (Adam), Jon (Cydney) step great-grandson; Jack. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Betty, Glenda and LaVonne and brothers Sterling, Farrell, Don, and Richard.
A Celebration of Judy's Life will be held at Ranfranz Vine Funeral Home (5421 Royal Pl. NW, Rochester, MN) on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Visitation is at 1:00 pm with Pastor Todd Buegler officiating the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Followed by a lunch reception and then a funeral burial service for immediate family at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Beds for Kids.
