Judy Karene Padgett Poteet, 82, went home to the Lord Tuesday, January 30, 2024 after a lengthy illness. She went peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Judy was born April 29, 1941 in
Morganton, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Luther Levi Padgett and Viola Ethel Carson Padgett. She is also preceded in death by her brothers James (Jim) Richard Padgett and John Ray (Lumpy) Padgett and one sister, Margarette Valerie Padgett.
Judy is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Harold Edward Poteet, daughter, Karen Elizabeth Poteet Phillips, two granddaughters, Anna Elizabeth Phillips Cook (Christian) of
Wilmington, N.C. and Erin Nicole Phillips Erickson (Zachary) of
Fletcher, N.C., as well as two beautiful great-grandchildren, Kennedy Elizabeth Cook and Oakes Poteet Erickson whom she loved with all her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Edna Frances (Patsy) Shuffler of
Morganton, N.C.Judy enjoyed gardening and traveling. She had a unique touch with animals and was especially skilled at finding 4-leaf clovers.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
