In Loving Memory of Judy (Judith) Annette Storms
October 23, 1941 - November 24, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Storms, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on Sunday, November 24th. Her warmth, humor, and boundless love touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on October 23, 1941, in Terre Haute, Judy lived a life rich in laughter, kindness, and devotion to her family. She had a remarkable ability to find joy in the simplest moments-whether it was a spirited conversation, a quiet afternoon with a book, or sharing a home-cooked meal. Her hugs were nothing short of legendary, wrapping you in a cocoon of love that could make any worry melt away.
Above all else, Judy was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 56 years, David. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and partnership. They cherished their winters in Florida, where they enjoyed soaking up the sun and the peace of the ocean. One of her greatest delights was listening to the outrageous stories her husband loved to tell-crafted solely to make her laugh. Their love was a source of inspiration to all who knew them, a testament to the power of commitment and shared joy.
Her daughters were her pride and joy. Judy adored her daughters (even more than bingo!). Her love for them was unending, and nothing brought her more pride or joy than being their mom. She poured her heart into raising them with love, strength, and faith, leaving behind a legacy of devotion that they will carry with them always.
As a member of St. Joseph University Parish Church, Judy's strong Catholic faith guided her throughout her life, providing her with strength, hope, and compassion. She found peace and purpose in her relationship with God. Her unwavering belief gave her the grace to face challenges with courage and to celebrate life's blessings with gratitude. She had a playful sense of humor that could bring a smile to anyone's face. She was a steadfast source of encouragement and comfort, always reminding those around her of their worth and potential. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Judy never met a stranger. Her outgoing personality and genuine interest in others meant she was always turning strangers into friends. She especially enjoyed her time working at The Pit Stop, where chatting with customers and brightening their day brought her immense joy. Whether catching up with familiar faces or welcoming someone new, she loved connecting with people and spreading a little joy wherever she went.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, David; 3 loving daughters, Beth Roberts West (Sam Plant), Laura Barbour (Scott), Susan Morris (Bryan); 5 grandchildren, Morgan Thompson (Darryn Newton), Bryan Kelty, Caleb West, John Barbour, Elisabeth Morris; 6 great-grandchildren; her sister Kathleen Klein and brother Jerry Ellingsworth. She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Virginia Ellingsworth; her brother Richard (Dick) Ellingsworth and brother and sister-in-law Tim and Sandy Ellingsworth; one son-in-law Clyde West; and one grandson Lucas West.
A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph University Parish Church. Visitation is in the church from 12:30 until the start of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Terre Haute Humane Society in her memory.
Though we grieve her loss deeply, we are forever grateful for the joy and love she brought into our lives. Her spirit will live on in the embrace of every hug we give and the laughter we share, and the unbreakable bond of family she cherished most of all.
