Judy Whalen

Judy Harris Whalen was an extraordinary U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer. She served in Nigeria just before the Biafra War from which she was evacuated. She then signed up to serve in Ethiopia where she worked for another year. She was dedicated to those she worked with, respected and very responsible as well as creative. After marrying Bill Whalen, whom she met in Nigeria, she raised her children and did free lance writing for magazines. She was known by her friends for her aesthetic sense of design as well as her skill and grace with words. Judy was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and a great fan of a certain Irish tenor. She left all of those who knew her better for the friendship.
