Julia Carolyn  Anchrum, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on August 21, 2023. She was born on May 25, 1933, in Greeleyville, South Carolina to her loving parents Edisto and Sarah Singleton. Julia lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and joy. She touched the lives of everyone she met in a special way and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Julia's journey began at Williamsburg County Training  School in Greeleyville, South Carolina where she received her education. She later attended National Business College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration. With her dedication to knowledge and learning, Julia exemplified a strong work ethic that she carried throughout her life.

In a time when it was rare for African American women to enlist with the United States Air Force, Julia defied expectations and proudly served her country. Stationed at Malmstrom AFB and Maxwell AFB  where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Anchrum,.  She contributed significantly to the military.  Her commitment and service were recognized with the National Defense Medal.

After her time in the military, Julia transitioned into serving passionately as a paraprofessional with Denver Public Schools and a dental assistant at Lowry AFB.  Her co-workers adored her for her kind nature and infectious enthusiasm.

Julia had a vibrant personality that drew people towards her. Known as "The Gatherer," she had a natural ability to bring people together, fostering deep connections with friends, family, and her community. Her warm smile and open heart made everyone feel welcomed and cherished in her presence.

Outside of her professional life and dedication to her family, Julia led a life filled with various interests and hobbies. She was an amazing bowler, finding joy in the competitiveness and camaraderie of the sport. Traveling was another passion of Julia's, as she treasured exploring new places and embracing different cultures. She also enjoyed attending family reunions and spending quality time with her dear friends. Julia's love for shopping added excitement to these gatherings as she sought out unique treasures.

A dedicated member of the House of Worship for over 50 years, Julia served wholeheartedly in many capacities. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and bringing solace during both joyful and challenging times.

Julia Carolyn Anchrum's presence in our lives bestowed love and cherished memories upon us all. We remember her as a beacon of light and inspiration. She has left an indelible mark on our hearts and will forever be celebrated for her kind spirit and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
