Julia Dodson Wilmarth Bowman of 252 Vicar Place, Danville, died on July 7, 2022 at Sovah Health following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Bowman was born on January 10, 1939, in Danville to the late Garnett Odell Dodson and the late Garland Susie Haynes Dodson. She was a graduate of George Washington High School and took courses at both Stratford and Averett College. At the time of her retirement she was Assistant Vice President of Nations Bank Mortgage Corporation where she was employed for 20 years. Mrs. Bowman loved her family and enjoyed preparing meals and having family gatherings. She also enjoyed reading, politics, and sewing. She was a member of the YMCA Board of Directors where she served as Chaiman of the Finance Committee. She also served as a volunteer for the Danville Democratic Committee.
Mrs. Bowman was first married to Terry Lee Wilmarth, the father of her two children, Philip James Wilmarth (wife Kathryn) and Ashley Anne Wilmarth Wielfeldt (husband Jonathan), Danville. She was later married to David Lee Bowman who predeceased her on December 5, 1994.
In addition to her children and their spouses, she is also survived by her step-daughter, Susan Bowman Moor (husband Mark), Deland, FL, two grandchildren, Tyler James Wietfeldt and Sydney Nicholle Wietfeldt, Danville, and four step-grandchildren Alexander Brandon, Austin Brandon (Taylor Brandon), Danville, David James Moor and Jamie Marie Moor, of Florida, and number of cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, David, she was predeceased by her daughter in-law, Patricia Tyler Wilmarth, and her grandson, Conner Scott Wietfeldt.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 2:00PM at Highland Burial Park with Pastor Hershel Stone officiating.
