Julia attended the Odyssey Writing Workshop in 1998. She was such a centering, compassionate presence in the class, had such deep insights, and was a fascinating, skilled writer. It was a pleasure to work with her. Sending my thoughts and prayers to all who loved her.

I first met Juli in creative writing class in January of 1980. We were roommates for three semesters at vcu. I was in her wedding and we remained friends until her death. She had a trenchant sense of humor, a brilliant mind, and could turn a phrase. I will miss her.
