Julia Goldie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 15, 2025.
Julia Harvey Goldie passed away peacefully at her home on October 14, 2025 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Born on July 9, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Julie left behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness. She was a beacon of light and warmth to her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert H. Goldie, and to her devoted children: Robert J. Goldie and his wife Phoebe Lynch of Portland, Oregon; John L. Goldie and his wife Karen Selody of Wellesley, Massachusetts; and Kathryn L. Goldie of New York City. She was also the adored grandmother of Rowan J. Goldie, Rhys T. Goldie, Greta V. Goldie, and Theodore J. Goldie.

Julie attended the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University. Following graduation, she spent two years in Tunisia with the Peace Corps, an experience she cherished deeply and that inspired a love of Africa and service to others.

After returning to the United States, Julie settled in New York City, where she worked for the Institute of International Education, an NGO under the auspices of the United Nations, helping to place foreign students in American colleges and universities.

Julie and Rob made their home in Rye, New York, for 37 years, where they raised their three children, before later moving to Greenwich, Connecticut. She was deeply involved in the Rye community: she twice chaired the Osborn School Carnival, was a member of the Little Garden Club of Rye for over 30 years-serving as treasurer-and was a parishioner at Christ's Church Rye for 45 years. Julie was also a member of the Manursing Island Club and The Apawamis Club. She loved gardening and horseback riding and competed enthusiastically in hunter-jumper events and flower shows.

Julie lived a life rich in experiences, and guided by compassion and curiosity. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew her.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on October 31 at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, New York. A Christian burial service will take place at Christ's Church Rye, 2 Rectory Street, Rye, on November 1 at 11 am followed by a reception at the Manursing Island Club.
