Julia Ann Heimann, 91, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Adams Woodcrest. She was born in Decatur on June 21, 1934, the daughter of the late Julius C. and Anna I. (Bernard) Schultz. On September 10, 1955, she married Fred W. Heimann and after 40 years together he preceded her in death on August 31, 1995.

She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Women of St. Mary. She was also a 1952 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School. For 2 decades she cleaned the interior of the church and she volunteered at Adams Memorial Hospital for 24 years.

Julia was a homemaker. She was the Chief Deputy Auditor for Adams County for 35 years before retiring in 1996.

She was the devoted caregiver for her late husband Fred, who suffered from MS for 30 years, of which he was bedridden for his last 12 years.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Gerald (Emily) Heimann of Angola and Stephen Heimann of Decatur; 3 daughters, Janice (Todd) Voreis of Decatur, Carol Lambright of Leo, and Theresa (Terry) Ashley of Decatur; 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Julia was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianne Junwirth; son-in-law, Brent Lambright; 3 brothers, John, Edward, and Raymond Schultz; 3 sisters, Naomi Tricker, Vera Rauch, and Mary Geimer.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Jacob Runyon presiding. Visitation will be held an hour prior to Mass from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary's Parish Hall. Burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
