It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Julia W. Morgan, who left us on March 2, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on May 28, 1928, in Dooling, Georgia, Julia was a beacon of love, strength, and community spirit throughout her life. Julia was the cherished daughter of Fort Marshall Williams Sr. and Susie Peterman Williams. She grew up in a nurturing environment that laid the foundation for her remarkable character. After graduating from Dooling County High School, she continued her education at Georgia Women's College, where her passion for learning blossomed.
In 1945, Julia married the love of her life, Ed Morgan, and together, they founded Ed Morgan & Associates in 1962 and later Ed Morgan Insurance Agency both in Conyers, GA. Their partnership was a testament to their shared values of perseverance and dedication, and even after Ed's passing in 1981, Julia carried their legacy forward with resilience and grace. Julia's life was full of joy and family, which she cherished above all else. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Randy Morgan. Julia is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Edgar and Judy Morgan, her loving daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Archer Rose, her cherished grandchildren, Randy and Leigh Rose, Carrie Rose Pace and Jason Pace, and her precious great-grandchild, Branton Rose.
Julia's commitment to her community was unparalleled. She served on the boards of First Bank of Conyers, Bank South, and Nation's Bank, contributing her wisdom and leadership to each organization. Additionally, she was a strong supporter of the A.R. Gus Barksdale Boys and Girls Club and was an active member of the Family Children Services committee. Her love for sports, particularly UGA Athletics, was evident in her dedicated support of the UGA Gymnastics team, for which she established a charitable trust. Julia traveled extensively to cheer for the team at meets all over the United States, embodying the spirit of a true sports fan. Her zest for life extended beyond the field, as she delighted in swimming, laughing with friends, and finding solace in nature, where she nurtured hummingbirds and managed the wildlife on her land.
As a loyal friend, Julia valued connections with her kindred spirits and was known for her generosity, always willing to share her time and resources with those she loved. She approached life with unyielding perseverance and calculated resilience, embracing every adventure and unfamiliar place with open arms. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Julia never ceased to engage her mind and spirit with new knowledge.
A Graveside service will be held in her honor at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens on March 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the A.R. Gus Barksdale Boys and Girls Club in Julia's memory. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com. Scot Ward Funeral Services, 699 American Legion Road, Conyers, GA 30012, 770-483-7216.
